One pet is included. Each additional pet on a half or full sheet adds $100. Ferg & Finn’s two-pet, full-sheet format is $750. Paintings are supplied unframed.
Oakley is painted on a quarter sheet, 11 × 15 inches. Ferg & Finn is a full sheet, 22 × 30 inches. These are the paper dimensions before framing; the mat and frame add to the outside size. The outlines show their relative sizes. Portrait or landscape orientation can suit the composition.
Room mockups are illustrative; artwork details and room scale may vary. See the gallery for the original paintings. Frames are shown for inspiration.

What goes into
your painting
Every commission is an original watercolor, painted by hand from your photographs. The price reflects the work of planning and painting your portrait, as well as the professional materials I use.
- Arches watercolor paper
- I paint on 100% cotton Arches paper. Its surface and internal sizing support the wet-on-wet washes I use, while retaining the texture of the paper.About Arches paper
- Daniel Smith watercolors
- I use professional Daniel Smith paints for their pigment, transparency, and range of color. Some of the tubes I use cost up to $35.About Daniel Smith paints
- Painted for your home
- Send the photographs you want me to work from, any names to include, and your room colors. I use that information when planning the portrait and its background.

Painting in watercolor
I paint pets, people, wildlife, and places. For years I gave my paintings as gifts, including portraits for people whose pets had died. Requests from friends led me to start offering commissions.
I trained with Jane Davies and work with the wet-on-wet techniques I learned from her. I use Arches watercolor paper and Daniel Smith paints.
My watercolor of Legs Inn now hangs inside the restaurant in Cross Village, Michigan.
When I’m not painting, I’m an author and go on adventures with my husband in our plane.
Commission a watercolor
PRIVATE GROUP EVENTS
Host a paint-and-sip event.
Arrange a group and a location, and request a watercolor session with me. Your organizer can send the date, venue, and estimated number of guests through the event form.
$35 per student includes a stencil, high-quality cold-pressed watercolor paper, prepared paint colors with labeled instructions, use of squirrel mop and fine liner brushes, and instruction. Your venue can pay for the group after I confirm the date.
